Jennifer Isaacson. 1985 – present: Working one on one with artisans from around the world developing artisan handmade products with an emphasis on using traditional techniques, materials and a sustainable environmental impact.
1991-1999: lead designer for a major clothing brand in the United States, producing in Bali Indonesia. Our collections of contemporary designs used traditional batik motifs, Javanese sarong. Each season we developed new techniques using recycled sarong, vintage weavings or overdyeing the garments in trending color tones for the US market.
1993-2002: Opened a retail, furniture and homewares store, selling handmade goods, produced by master artisans from around the world. I sold the clothing store and furniture store to my employees when I moved to New Mexico in 2001
2001-2010: Lead buyer for a large retail company in Santa Fe, New México, designing and producing in Mexico, Guatemala, India, South America, China, Morocco and Indonesia. Working closely with artisans gave me a unique understanding of the importance of preserving handmade craft and how to translate traditional craft into quality products trending in the marketplace.
2004-present: Trainer and Mentor with the International Folk Market, helping artisans with pricing and the basic information of selling in a U S market.
2005-2020: Consultant with BYHand Consulting, traveling internationally conducting workshops and giving seminars to SME’s and artisan groups on “Artisan Development and Market Readiness”.
2005-Present: Lead consultant working with the New York Indonesian Consulate, Bank of Indonesia, Bank BRI, Bekraf and various Provincial Governments throughout Indonesia presenting workshops and seminars on “Market Readiness” to local artisan groups and SME’s. Curating products and working with artisans with the goal of bringing quality Indonesian Handmade goods to “NYNow” a wholesale exhibition in New York and ultimately establishing lasting relationships with global wholesale and retail buyers.
2009-present: Interior designer in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
2020: Guest lecturer, University Negeri Pandang. Discussion: “Working in Today’s Virtual Marketplace and the Great Global Reset”.
2020: Guest Panelist: Rapat Persiapan Webinar Rebranding UMNK from Jakarta, Indonesia.
